The Grand Canyon's North Rim is known for its remoteness and serenity. The choices for North Rim accommodations are minimal compared to the Grand Canyon's South Rim, but the views are no less spectacular. If you desire a more intimate experience with the Grand Canyon, then the North Rim is a good choice. Staying overnight in Grand Canyon North Rim lodging could certainly mean booking a stay at the historic Grand Canyon Lodge & Cabins, but be sure to plan about a year ahead if this is your vacation itinerary. Other north rim lodging options include camping or staying in outlying small towns like Jacob Lake, Lees Ferry, or even Fredonia, AZ and Kanab, UT, Page, AZ (Lake Powell) which are all located near the Arizona/Utah state line. Please note that the Grand Canyon's North Rim closes every year in mid-October due to winter weather conditions.

Kaibab Lodge
Kaibab Lodge is in the heart of the North Kaibab National Forest just five miles from the entrance to Grand Canyon National Park's north rim. Built "about 1926-1927", the lodge is said by some to have once been a working cattle ranch. Now, it's a quiet place where people come to see deer, wild turkey, the unique Kaibab squirrel, a variety of wild birds, or to visit the national park. At 8,770 feet above sea level, the lodge is cool when the surrounding desert is hot. Open from mid-May through November 2 annually, in accordance with the North Rim's park operation.
