North Rim Lodging

Announcement:  The North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is now closed as of mid-October and will reopen mid-May.  Make your summer vacation plans now!  A visit to Grand Canyon's North Rim is well worth forfeiting the choices available amongst dozens of motels and hotels one finds on the South Rim. In fact, its remoteness is precisely what attracts many visitors to the North Rim in the first place. Staying overnight in Grand Canyon North Rim lodging could certainly mean booking a stay at the historic Grand Canyon Lodge & Cabins, but be sure to plan about a year ahead if this is your vacation itinerary.

Due to the limited availability of North Rim lodging, many visitors camp overnight at the in-park North Rim Campground or one of several out-of-park campgrounds. If you'd rather sleep under a roof than the stars, look to these few but wonderful options: Grand Canyon Lodge is the only in-park lodge; there are a small handful of motels and lodging options in nearby Jacob Lake and Fredonia, AZ and Kanab, UT (1-2 hours away); or book a stay in the picturesque Page/Lake Powell, AZ or St. George, UT areas (each 3 hours away.)

Kaibab Lodge
Accommodations near the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park

Kaibab Lodge is in the heart of the North Kaibab National Forest just five miles from the entrance to Grand Canyon National Park's north rim. Built "about 1926-1927", the lodge is said by some to have once been a working cattle ranch. Now, it's a quiet place where people come to see deer, wild turkey, the unique Kaibab squirrel, a variety of wild birds, or to visit the national park. At 8,770 feet above sea level, the lodge is cool when the surrounding desert is hot. Open from mid-May through November 2 annually, in accordance with the North Rim's park operation.
