Professional Grand Canyon river outfitters not just protecting the natural environment of the Grand Canyon, but they are bringing the great outdoors to others who might not usually get to experience the rush of the
Colorado River.
In 1988, The Grand Canyon Conservation Fund was created to assist other non-profit Grand Canyon conservation groups and to provide outdoor adventure opportunities for those with physical or socioeconomic challenges. The organization is primarily funded by the river trip passengers who donate $1 of their trip fee to The Grand Canyon Conservation Fund. In 2006, the river outfitters successfully raised over $90,000 which was then distributed as grants to other non-profit groups. Because The Fund is managed completely by volunteers, the organization can be ran on less than .2% of the overall donated money
The Grand Canyon Conservation Fund does not offer grant awards to individuals, for-profit organizations or government agencies. All donations made to the Grand Canyon Conservation Fund are tax deductible.
