The Grand Canyon North Rim is the place to visit if you enjoy space and primitive services. The North Rim tour season is open May 15 through October 15, with limited day access through the end of November. North Rim tours offer visitors the opportunity to really interact with the canyon without crowds or a touristy atmosphere. Resources are scarce and other humans can be even more rare. Experiencing the North Rim is certainly a privilege for those willing to go a little further out of their way to spend time at the Grand Canyon. If you are still interested in visiting the North Rim during the closed season, backcountry reservations are available for camping as well as lodging at the North Rim Lodge during the winter, though be warned that there is snow and closed roads during this time of year. Tours of the North Rim during winter are mostly limited to air tours in combination with visiting other attractions such as Hoover Dam and Lake Mead.
North Rim tours are certainly worthwhile for those who enjoy the road less traveled as only 10% of all Grand Canyon visitors ever get to experience it.
